Abstract

Global Mobility is one of the invigorating issue
for Next Generation Networks (NGNs). To facilitate user
roaming over NGNs, there must be an effective and efficient Global Mobility Management mechanism, so that the mobile connection with its current serving network is handoff to its target network to maintain service continuity without the need to disconnect and reconnect. Therefore, we propose a novel architecture that can be deployed in NGNs. Second we propose
a predictive and adaptive Network Switching Decision
Mechanism (NSDM) that optimizes the switching initiation
time as well as selection of the most optimal network. The proposed NSDM considers the technology type as well as the signal to Interference Ratio (SIR) and user preferences as the most important factors to make network switching decision.
